The Elements
Single Channel Video (Computer-Generated Animation)
1:14 June 2025  -  ongoing
Blender. Premiere Pro.

The Elements is a computer-generated video that explores surreal natural landscapes through a minimalistic lens. The work reuses the same set of assets throughout its duration, but each environment is composed differently, emphasizing variation through composition rather than complexity. I used vertex snapping as a technique to embrace the low fidelity of the aesthetic while also giving the scenes a sense of movement and life.

The work suggests a critique of the Anthropocene. As a human building natural environments digitally and taking ownership of forms sourced from nature, the work raises questions about agency. Nature cannot speak back or refuse its replication. At the same time, the computing power and energy required for 3D rendering have real environmental impacts. These digital landscapes, while artificial, come at the cost of actual natural resources. In this way, The Elements explores the tension between constructing in virtual space and the consequences that it has on the real world.
